Twiniversity and Bébé au Lait are proud to announce our first Super M.O.M. of 2012!
We would like to introduce you to Bev Hales.
Bev and her husband Ken have TWO sets of twins. 7 year old Ann Brooks and Caroline, and 4 year old Dean and Russ. Residing in Fayetteville, GA, Bev has been a stay at home mom for the last seven years but is currently transitioning back to the work place in the next few weeks.
Twiniversity actually received two nominations for Bev!
Below is what her fans had to say about this fabulous Mamma:
“Bev was one of the first twin mama’s I “met” on facebook and her wit and wisdom inspire me daily. She is a multiple mom overachiever with her TWO sets of twins, but balances it with ease, a smile and usually a great comment. She “fights the good fight” for moms and women all around and her comments always make me smile. So Bev, I raise my glass to you and would be honored if you would be our first SuperMom of the Month for 2012.“
“I actually feel like I know this mom, however her cape is hidden, and her children happen to be two sets of twins. I met Bev on the Twiniversity website. I felt an instant connection knowing we both had two sets of twins, were both military moms, and found so much in common. Over the past couple years, Bev and I have posed problems, discussed parenting, and offered support to each other even though we are are on opposite sides of the country. Our similarities are remarkable. And yet, I look up to her and admire her as a mom in so many ways. With two sets of twins she is a model example of raising children in a kind, caring, and compassionate way. She is an impressive part of their education. Every day is a new experience for her children and good or bad, she seems to find joy in it all. Her positive outlook on life and child-rearing is inspirational. Someday, I hope to meet her in person, and then, maybe I’ll see that cape. But for now, she remains my “facebook best friend”(I call her my FBBFF) and someone that really deserves the Super M.O.M. award.”
We asked Bev a few questions and here is what she had to say:
The biggest challenge with multiples is managing a schedule. Between housework, their appointments, grocery shopping, and trying to spend time with them just being mom, there is very little time left in the day.
The best advice I ever received was about nutrition! A pediatrician once told me to introduce a food at least 20 times before you accepted that the child did not like that food. My rule is that you don’t have to eat it but you have to try it. As a result, my four twins eat a wide variety of foods.
My “free time” is spent working on my MBA. It’s taken me four and a half years and I will complete it in February 2012. I also am a freelance writer and have a regular online column as an expert in parenting multiples.
In balancing time, we have a standing date night and I have a standing night out by myself to do whatever I want, which is usually an unaccompanied trip to the store for supplies or a night out with girlfriends. You have to put your marriage and yourself on the calendar because these things will suffer if they are not scheduled. I wouldn’t do a thing differently. God takes you where He wants you. You had to go where you’ve been to get where you are. I am very happy with my status quo.
