We are excited to bring you the story of Jaxon and Kylie, who motivated their mother to break away from an abusive marriage. We spoke with their mother, Ashley, and here is what she had to say about these two:

My twins have completed my life. They have taught me how to be a better person and have made me strive to be my best. They are always (for the most part) happy. Their little smiles are the most infectious thing I have ever seen in my life!

When I was pregnant with them I wasn’t sure if or how I could handle twins, especially since I left my husband when I was 5 months pregnant due to domestic violence and substance abuse.

The second they were born and I saw their beautiful faces I no longer questioned my capabilities. They have made me stronger, more confident, happier and more full of love than I ever imagined.

Sure our journey hasn’t been perfect but I know no matter what comes our way, as long as we have each other and their older sister we will make it through. They have been my biggest teachers, my biggest motivation, and two of my greatest loves. Blessings truly come in twos. Abusive Marriage

Their father has never been around so they don’t know any different. He has supervised visitation with them, but he hardly uses it. My ex-husband’s issues didn’t start until after I was pregnant with the twins. I don’t know if the news of twins was just too much for him to handle or what, but I wasn’t going to put my kids through that.

I left him when I was between 4 and 5 months pregnant. I ended up having to file a restraining order on him when I was 5 months pregnant due to him threatening to kill everyone and telling me he would kill himself and it would be my fault.

It was a vicious cycle with him. He would be nice trying to get me to come home and then when I would tell him I wasn’t coming home until he went to get help he would turn mean. Abusive Marriage

I filed for divorce when I was 6 months pregnant. I’m not gonna lie, it was hard, it was emotional. I let my OB/GYN know about the situation and she was an amazing support through it all. I also have an amazing family that helps me and supports me.

I just hope that anyone dealing with abuse realizes there is help. It’s not okay to live like that and no matter how hard you think it will be, you can do it.

Don’t think you should stay for the kids so that they can have both parents under the same roof because that’s no way for them to grow up. I didn’t want my daughter to think that was ok for a man to treat a woman like that and I didn’t want my son to think it was ok to treat a woman like that.

Jaxon and Kylie love going for walks and playing outside. I would have to say their favorite thing to do is dance to any music they hear. They love to dance to the theme song for The Big Bang Theory.

Their favorite toys right now are books, ride on toys, and anything that lights up and plays music. Jaxon loves pushing his sister around on her princess car. I think their favorite time of the day is mealtime, they love to eat and are amazing eaters. They love pancakes, eggs, oranges, bananas, and spaghetti. Abusive Marriage
