Since having kids, my gift giving skills — due to time and money — have gone WAY downhill! I just get so wrapped up in making sure the kids have the absolute best Christmas they possibly can that I usually leave the holiday gifts for dad until the last minute. And I’m sure most of you are just like us since the twins were born…. ON. A. BUDGET! We have been since the day we found out we were having twins, right!?! And we will be until they are out of college!
I know that a simple gift can’t repay my husband for giving me the one thing I wanted most in life, to be a mother. I know a little present doesn’t mean as much as the boys calling him his favorite word, “Daddy”. But I wanted to challenge myself — “the worst gift buyer ever” — to find something that my husband, “the best daddy ever”, could enjoy for at least a few minutes and know that I put a little thought into it and that we do actually appreciate him.
So here goes…. I’ve compiled a list of a few things that I think most dads would love! Next, I will get my hubby to give them the seal of approval!
Twiniversity writer Joe Rawlinson offers dozens of hilarious twin dad t-shirts like this one on his website. There’s one for every twin dad out there!

For the dad who needs a little help staying motivated to work out, the Fitbit Charge is the perfect gift. It syncs wirelessly to an app to show daily step counts, heart rate, calories burned, quality of sleep, and you can challenge your friends to keep on track.
For your outdoorsy dad… or maybe the dad that’s just a little too into The Walking Dead.
My hubby’s favorite item he received when the boys were born was a camoflage diaper bag. I think it made him feel like diaper duty wasn’t just for mommas!

The Grommet site is filled with awesome gifts for any man! One of the best gifts on this site is the Beer Cap Trap — a great conversation piece and artwork for the man-cave.
Ok, so this site is AWESOME! You pick a box filled with an assortment of items that will get mailed to him by subscription… Too cool! You could pick a box with a variety of seasonings and a cutting board if he likes to cook… Or a box with different shaving creams and a razor, a hop tasting kit… This site is really cool and not only for men.
Another sure thing from Uncommon Goods — mixtape glasses with a wax pencil to write the drinker’s name. Now you can finally tell everyone’s glasses apart! So cute, you’ll want them for yourself!
I will say this…. Even though I haven’t always been the best gift buyer, I do always make sure the boys make cards, pictures or some sort of craft for Christmas, Fathers Day, Birthday, whatever the occasion… The kids feel like they contributed in a big way and daddy has something extra special with the kiddos drawings on it to always remember what stage of life they were in that year (make sure to date it!)
We also usually try to rotate big events with bought gifts and homemade gifts. For instance, my husband’s birthday and Christmas are only a couple months apart so I usually have the boys do a homemade gift for one and then splurge on the other. The same goes for Father’s Day and our Anniversary which are within days of each other. One year I picked up cement at Hobby Lobby and had the boys put their hand prints in it and then they got to put little stones and fancy rocks in it for decoration. They thought it was so much fun to decorate and get messy and surprise daddy with. We later put them in a special place in our yard and they can move with us wherever we go!
