Sending Christmas Cards

Last updated on November 29th, 2023 at 04:17 pm

If there’s one thing you choose to do this holiday season, let it be: sending Christmas cards. It’s more than just a tradition; it’s a heartfelt way to spread joy, connect with loved ones, and make memories that last. Join us in making this season brighter—one card at a time. After all, a simple gesture can create a world of warmth and happiness.

‘Tis the season for spreading holiday cheer, and what better way to do it than with a Christmas card?  I’m talking physical; hold in your hand Christmas cards, you know, the OG of holiday traditions. In today’s digital age, where instant messages and social media platforms dominate our communication, do not let this be your go-to for Christmas cards.

Sending Christmas Cards

The tradition of sending Christmas cards still holds a special place in the hearts of many. Admit it, there is something undeniably charming about receiving a physical card in the mail. In fact, Christmas cards are my favorite part of the holiday season. I love getting those handwritten addressed envelopes, and I get excited to open them up and see who it is from. I adore seeing the familiar faces of people I have crossed paths with at some point in my life. Seeing how their families have grown and (I can say this because I, too, am of a certain age) how their hair is turning a familiar color of gray. It is the social stimulation that my introverted self secretly craves.

So, are you sending (I’m talking lick the envelope and put a stamp on it) Christmas cards this year? If you are undecided or you are team digital Christmas card, keep reading; hopefully, this will change your mind.

Why Send a Christmas Card?

Receiving a Christmas card is special. It’s so easy to share every detail of our lives via social media, so to get a personalized, sometimes handwritten card through “snail” mail really means something! Seriously, it takes effort, something that our daily social media updates lack, and for someone to put that effort in for you is special.

It’s an investment in your Relationships

Sending a Christmas card is like saying, “Hey, I’m thinking of you,” especially to folks who are a bit of a drive or a plane ticket away. It’s all about keeping those connections alive and spreading some good vibes during the holiday season. And you know what’s cool? The actual card you can touch—makes the whole sentiment thing way more real and special.

Showcase Your Personal Style

Sending out Christmas cards is a cool way to show off your personal style and let your family’s awesome personalities shine. From the pic you choose to the card style, it’s all about letting your unique vibe spread some holiday joy.

What makes a “good” Christmas card?

Photographs

This is my favorite thing about getting Christmas cards. A handwritten message is nice, but an updated photo is the absolute BEST! This does not need to be a professional picture. In fact, I think it means more to get a candid image. Even better, use an image from one of your favorite adventures from the last year. A photo card adds a personal touch and makes the card more memorable.

Personalization

A personal touch goes a long way. Whether it’s a handwritten message, a specific mention of shared memories, or acknowledgment of a personal connection, people appreciate when a card feels tailored to them.

Humor or Lightheartedness

Humor and lightheartedness in a Christmas card is always appreciated. Whether it’s a joke or a witty remark, people love getting a card that brings a smile to their face.

Update on Life

A brief update on life and family is always appreciated. Include milestones and achievements or simply share highlights from the past year.
