Dads Need Support Too: What a Navy Officer Turned Twin Dad Parenting Coach Wants Every Father to Know

This episode at a glance:

  • Dads tend to stay in their regular routines during pregnancy while moms are flooded with information which means fathers often arrive at parenthood underprepared.
  • Many men have been raised on a “protect and provide” framework that leaves out the most important piece: presence.
  • Moms are often the bridge: they find the podcast, read the book, and send it to their partner. If that’s you, keep sending!
  • You don’t have to be a perfect parent to be a great one. You just have to show up.

Living Life in the Fab Lane: What a Gay Twin Dad in NYC Wants You to Know About Raising Twins Your Way

This episode at a glance:

  • Thomas and Ryan knew from their very first date that they both wanted marriage and kids, and that clarity has defined everything about how they parent.
  • Living as a two-dad family in a conservative suburban community meant constantly feeling out of place. In Manhattan, nobody gives them a second look, and that matters more than people realize.
  • They made a conscious choice not to disclose which twin is biologically related to which parent because that information can quietly shape the way others relate to each child.
  • At two and a half, Demi and Benjamin couldn’t be more different: she’s the rule enforcer, he’s the rule breaker. That’s the particular magic of twins!

Twins Twice: What It’s Actually Like to Have Two Sets of Twins in Under Two Years

This episode at a glance:

  • Josh’s first twin pregnancy was filled with complications: TTTS, TAPS, growth restriction, and a NICU stay.
  • His second twin pregnancy went to 38 weeks and the boys came home on day two. Same couple, completely different experience.
  • Josh and Robin aren’t a perfect 50/50, but they aligned early on the fundamentals and hold that line. Their rule for the newborn phase: anything said between 11pm and 6am doesn’t count.
  • With no family nearby, Josh felt the particular loneliness of being a twin dad in a community that skews almost entirely toward moms, so he started a podcast just to give dads a space to tell the unfiltered truth.
  • The days are long and the years are short, and Josh was already feeling the timer on his boys at six months old.

Twin Dad Truth Time: What a School Psychologist Learned About Fatherhood from Working with Kids Every Day

This episode at a glance:

  • David has spent his career watching what happens to kids who have a present, engaged father and what happens to kids who don’t. That shaped everything about how he parents his own twin boys.
  • He turned the 2am feeds into a personal challenge. His record was 28 minutes for both boys, fed, changed, and back to sleep. Reframing hard tasks changes how it feels to do them!
  • Get an actual video camera. When you pull out a phone, you’re extracting a moment. When you pick up a video camera, you’re entering one.
  • His goal: be slightly better than those who came before. It takes four or five generations, but you move the line.

How a Dad Raises His Boy/Girl Twins — and the Postpartum Preeclampsia Nobody Warned Them About

This episode at a glance:

  • Four days after coming home, Curtis’s wife was back in the hospital with postpartum preeclampsia, a condition nobody had warned them about. She advocated for herself, insisted on more tests, and thankfully it saved her life
  • Postpartum preeclampsia can happen days or weeks after delivery and is often not discussed at discharge. Know the signs: severe swelling, high blood pressure, headaches, and vision changes mean go back in.
  • Curtis believes race played a role in how his wife was initially treated, and the statistics back him up. Women of color are four times more likely to experience complications, and that disparity doesn’t disappear after delivery.
  • Boy/girl twins are two entirely different people from the very beginning, and watching them become themselves is one of the great unexpected joys of twin parenting.

Twins Having Twins: What Happens When Two Twins Marry and Have Their Own Set

This episode at a glance:

  • Jeremy is a twin, his wife Britney is a twin, and now they have nine-month-old boy/girl twins. The genetic predisposition is strong in this household!
  • Growing up as a twin didn’t give Jeremy the intense bond people romantically project onto multiples, and he’s not worried about what his kids’ relationship will look like. He just wants them the chance to figure it out themselves.
  • Jeremy is intentional about protecting his kids from technology (no phones on the boat, and experiences that have a beginning, middle, and end).

Bringing Twins Into the World by Storm — Literally: How One Twin Dad Survived a Flood, a Nanny Crisis, a Writers Strike, and Fatherhood

This episode at a glance:

  • Two weeks before their twins were born, Hurricane Ida flooded Zach and Emily’s Brooklyn apartment. They came home from the hospital to two months of couch-hopping with two newborns and whatever fit in their suitcases.
  • Their first nanny injured her wrist, their second broke her foot. The lesson: household employee insurance is not optional, get it before something happens.
  • Zach credits his partnership with Emily as the thing that made all of it survivable. They faced every curveball from the same direction, and that made all the difference.
  • Use the resources available to you. Call Twiniversity. Email at 2am. Most twin parents wait too long to reach out, and they shouldn’t have to do this alone.
