Astronaut Scott Kelly and his twin brother and retired astronaut Mark Kelly (husband to former Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords) will be the subjects of the first ever twin study to be conducted by NASA! Scott will spend one year on the International Space Station while Mark will stay at home as the control subject in the experiment.
NASA’s Human Research Program will fund 10 short-term studies that compare the physiology of the two brothers to help the agency better understand and prepare for the health impacts of living in space for an extended time.
