Getting ready to transition your twin toddlers out of their crib? This may feel like both an exciting and overwhelming time! Here’s what other twin parents have to say about what worked for twin toddler beds and twin toddler sleeping arrangements!
You made it through the newborn and infant stage with one but two babies! You are amazing!
And while there may be some nostalgia of those early days when your twin babies would fall asleep in their bassinets and cribs, you’re probably also feeling ready for more independent sleep.
Maybe you’re planning to simply convert your convertible crib to the toddler version, or perhaps you’re thinking of doing a completely new sleep setup for your toddler twins.
Wherever your head is at, we want to share what other twin parents made work for twin toddler beds!

We recently asked our twin parent community…
Parents of twins: What twin toddler beds worked best when your twinnies transitioned out of their cribs? How old were they? How did it go?
And here’s what twin parents had to say:
“Mine girls were climbers from a very young age, discovered them climbing out of their crib and into each other’s crib. Since they were barely 1, I wanted something low to the floor so they were safe if they rolled out of bed. I also wanted to make use out of brand new crib mattresses so I bought these toddler beds.” – Angela
“We took the front off two cribs and zip tied them together for a few months before toddler beds. They were only escaping to see each other anyway.” – Britta
“Toddler beds are a waste of money. Get twin beds instead and buy side rails for them. That way they can grow into the beds.” – Elizabeth

“Mine had transitional cribs. We turned them into the toddler beds when they started climbing over the crib railing. They were maybe 2.5. Got the cribs from Target or Walmart.” – Jennifer
“Those cabin beds from RH the were the perfect transition. no jumping on the bed and no falling out of the bed. we were in these aged 3ish to 12 and they were amazing.” – Katrina
“A few months shy of their third birthday, I moved my twin girls to double/full size beds.
“We had convertible beds that we could turn into toddler beds, but we found that it wasn’t safe because Twin A would climb the side of the crib and try to jump in! So instead, we kept their crib mattresses and ended up buying toddler beds that weren’t too high off the floor. We got one from Facebook Marketplace and the other we bought new Delta Children Toddler bed from Target with a birthday gift card! We only used the toddler beds for a year before transitioning into separate bedrooms with a full size and Queen size bed (just before they turned 4). Even though we didn’t use them that long, I think it was a helpful transition, and we weren’t out that much money since the one toddler bed was bought used and not too expensive and we were able to continue using their crib mattresses a bit longer.”

If the bedrooms has room for 2 full beds I highly recommend a full bed that has more room as they get bigger.” – Amy
“I got a low loft bed with a high railing and thinner mattress. They never fell off it. Maybe hit their heads on the bottom a few times when they got taller. The girls are always together, so they like sharing a bed. When they get bigger I will get a mattress topper.” – Roxann
“We skipped toddler beds and went straight to twin beds with Munchkin toddler safety bed rails.” – Amanda
