When you are researching your twin stroller options, you will likely come across Mountain Buggy. The Mountain Buggy Duet is an awesome little side-by-side stroller that is great for all different types of families with 2 kids.
Overall we really love this stroller for twins. It has a ton of great features that we should talk about to help you decide. Of course, we’ll give you a heads up on some of the points to consider as potential negatives, too.
The Pros of the Mountain Buggy Duet
There really is a lot to love about this stroller, especially for twin families with little ones! Let’s check out some of the highlights really quickly.
Twin friendly. This stroller takes two car seats and even two carrycots, or 2 cocoons which makes this a great fit for twin families! Whoo-hoo!
Colors. Pick from one of three different colors to suit your own style.
Fit for a newborn, or two. Use the carrycots, cacoons, car seat adapters, or recline the seats to lie flat for newborn napping on the go.
Narrow! This side-by-side stroller has such a slim design that it is comparable to a single stroller. It will glide right through any doorway.
Side note- They do this by adding the wheels inside the frame. Meaning they don’t stick out. Most twin parents know that the wheels of your twin stroller often stick out, making getting through doorways difficult.
Easy, compact fold. This stroller will fit in almost any trunk or closet. It also stands on its own once folded.
Air tires are great for uneven weight distribution. Aerotech tires can be added as an upgrade and are puncture-proof.
Adjustable handlebar for driver comfort and adjustable footwell for child comfort.
Canopies. Extended SPF50+, independent canopies with magnetic peek-a-boo windows. No more risking waking sleeping babies with the rip of the velcro.
Brakes. The Mountain Buggy Duet has both hand and foot brakes for superior control of your stroller.
Padding galore on the adjustable straps for the comfort of your little ones.
Large basket to store gear, even a bulky diaper bag.
Locking front wheels are 10 inches and are great for all-terrain travels.

The cons of the Mountain Buggy Duet
We know you need to hear the negatives to this stroller to make a fully informed decision before you purchase. Just like with any baby gear item, there are some downsides. You need to thoroughly understand your double stroller so you don’t wind up frustrated and in need of a replacement a week later.
Won’t last forever. Ok, forever is extreme but maybe we want to keep it until our littles grow out of the need for a stroller entirely. That probably won’t work with this particular model. Remember how impressive the narrow 25 inch width of this stroller is? Well, part of that comes from shorter, more narrow seats. Also, the aluminum frame means that each seat can only hold a max of 40 lbs. Many other sides by side strollers hold at least 50 lbs per seat, to keep it in perspective.
Heavy. This stroller is pretty heavy. It weighs 32.5 lbs! Yikes! It’s a bit heavy, especially when you consider that the frame is aluminum but it is certainly not the heaviest side-by-side stroller on the market. It’s just worth noting that it might be a bit too heavy for Grandma to lift in and out of her trunk when she wants to take your twins on an outing alone.
We love that Mountain Buggy has so many accessories available for the Duet stroller. The wide range of accessories makes this a very versatile stroller that can accommodate most twin families.
Car seat adapters
Remember that this stroller takes TWO car seats at the same time. Purchase one of these adapters to easily transfer your twins from the car to the stroller.
This stroller is great for twins, but it is also great for families with two separate aged children. If you are taking just one kid, in either situation on an outing, you can use this tote for extra gear. Isn’t that great for running into the supermarket? Just take your groceries and set them in the basket and there’s no need to deal with carrying a basket and pushing a stroller.
The newborn cocoon is a fantastic accessory for newborns. It will lie completely flat and only holds your baby until they reach 20 lbs or 6 months, whichever comes first. The best part is that this cocoon is certified for overnight sleep!
Cocoon for twins
That’s right, the Mountain Buggy Duet will take this new twin accessory. It is good for the first 6 months of your twins’ lives. This one is currently on back order but you should definitely be added to the list for email notifications!
The carrycot plus is great because it has 3 different levels of recline. We like that as the incline can be great for infants with reflux or that just might need a bit of an incline to rest comfortably. This one will be good for up to 33lbs.
Carrycot Plus for twins
This is exactly the same as the singleton carrycot plus, but it has the added benefit of providing a womb-like closeness that your twins really may find comforting. This is available for pre-order only at this time.
Mountain Buggy has a parent console that they call a storage pouch and hang bag. It has two pouches for bottles and a zippered pouch for snacks or your wallet. It clips on and off the stroller handlebar easy peasy.
The velcro bottle holder attaches right to the handle of the stroller and is perfect for your water bottle.
Free rider board
This board is equal parts scooter and glider board for your big kid to ride along. It is good for up to 110lbs when used as a scooter and 44lbs when used as a glider board. But that’s not all this board can handle. It has 4 different heights for the handlebar so it will be great for your kid to use for years!

So, what do we think of the Mountain Buggy Duet?
We like this stroller a lot. There is a lot to like about it. There are a few downsides and one of the biggest downsides will definitely be that you probably won’t get more than 3 or 4 years out of the Mountain Buggy Duet due to the size of the seats.
To some people, that won’t be a big deal and all the awesome features may make it worth the compromise. To others, this might be a deal-breaker. If you are still on the hunt for a side-by-side, make sure you check out the Bumbleride Indie Twin and the Zoe Twin+ Luxe.
